According to provisional data from the FSO, industrial production fell by 4.0% in August 2021 compared to the previous month on a price, seasonally, and calendar adjusted basis. The increase in calendar adjusted production in industry was 1.7% in August 2021 compared to a year earlier. In seasonally and calendar adjusted terms, production in August 2021 was 9.0% lower than in February 2020, the month before restrictions were implemented due to the coronavirus pandemic in Germany.

Industry production, excluding energy and construction, fell by 4.7% in August 2021. Producers continued to report about supply constraints of intermediate products hindering production. Within industry, the production of capital goods decreased by 7.8%.

The manufacturing of motor vehicles, trailers, and semi-trailers fell 17.5% in August compared to the previous month, while manufacturing of machinery and equipment fell 6.3%. The production of consumer goods fell by 2.6%, while intermediate goods production fell by 2.4%.

Outside of industry, energy production increased by 4.1% in July 2021, while the production in construction fell by 3.1%.

The price, seasonally and calendar adjusted number for industrial production in July 2021 increased by 1.3% (provisional: +1.0%) from the previous month. The price and calendar adjusted number for industrial production in July 2021 increased by 6.0% from the same month a year earlier.
