As the retailer prepares for its important spring selling season when demand for home improvement supplies is at its highest, Home Depot announced on Tuesday that it will hire more than 100,000 workers across its stores and warehouses.
Over the last few years, the company has hired roughly 80,000 laborers for the spring season.
Spring is the biggest season of the year for home improvement retailers like Home Depot and Lowe's when customers return to gardening and home improvement projects after the winter months.
During the COVID-19 epidemic, Home Depot saw a boost in demand for its supplies as sick people spent their time at home repairing their homes. Professional builders and handymen have also resumed work on projects that were halted during the pandemic, which has helped the company.
The increase in hiring comes at a time when businesses ranging from retailers to restaurants are experiencing widespread labor shortages, and a fast-spreading Omicron variation threatens to wreak havoc across industries.
Home Depot announced that it is hiring for full-time and part-time positions in customer service and sales, store support, freight, and warehouse workers and that a virtual spring career day event will be held.
