The chair of the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Gary Gensler, stated on Tuesday that the regulator is considering rules to increase oversight of key Treasury market platforms in order to increase transparency and competition.

In an address to an industry audience, Gary Gensler stated that he is also considering rule changes in equity trading that may reduce "tick sizes" and reevaluate the best bid and offer components.
He also stated that the agency will soon address potential conflicts of interest in how online brokers use digital engagement practices when marketing to investors under his supervision.
