According to Chief Executive Carsten Spohr, Lufthansa plans to get its first Boeing  787 airliner in time for the summer season next year, and the first Boeing 777-9 jet in 2023.

Airlines Still Flying the Boeing 747 -

Spohr added that Lufthansa was in talks with Boeing about purchasing the 777X freighter variant and that he welcomed competition from the Airbus A350 freighter.

"We have been negotiating about this, this morning, but there is much more negotiation to be done," Spohr said at a Frankfurt event where Lufthansa and Boeing unveiled a new Boeing 777.
