As speculators position themselves in advance of the Fed and BoJ policy announcements next week, the yen gains ground against all of its G10 counterparts. Following the RBA's Governor Lowe's hawkish remarks, the Australian dollar gained.
Oil fell as concerns about the demand picture persisted, following a brief uptick due to Saudi Arabia's pledge to reduce output even further.
