The first in-person negotiating round for an economic pact that the US hopes will strengthen Indo-Pacific trade links and counter China's influence in the region takes place this weekend in Australia, with Washington seeking progress on critical issues such as trade facilitation and agriculture.

According to Economists emerging markets will continue to grapple with sharply higher global rates, a war-driven spike in commodity prices, and spillovers from China's COVID zero policy in 2023.
