Economists predict a stronger US economy and a smaller increase in unemployment over the next year, supporting expectations that the Federal Reserve will keep interest rates higher for longer. Fed Chairman Jerome Powell will speak at the Kansas City Fed's Jackson Hole Economic Policy Symposium next Friday, according to the US central bank. Americans continue to spend and the country's biggest retailers are still warning that the party could fizzle out.
